JOB CASTAÑEDA: TRAS LOS PASOS DEL VINATERO

JOB CASTAÑEDA: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE WINEMAKER

“A master mezcalero is not only born, but also made.”

Job , originally from the beautiful Rancho La Pila, dedicated his entire life to tending cattle on ranches. He was a true cowboy, whose spirit was always connected to nature, animals, and the entire ecosystem. He knew the elements of the environment that surrounded him every day and, combined with his keen eye for observation, learned the techniques of a master mezcalero from scratch. Job served as an apprentice to Ignacio Grijalva "Don Lucas," the first person in charge of the essence and flavor of our mezcals and sotoles.

From the roots, that is, with the harvest or jima and cultivation of the agave, Job began his journey toward learning how to produce mezcal. He immersed himself in the process, mastering the art of fermentation and distillation. Over the years, he has perfected the notes of the Cenizo , Pecho , and Sotol mezcals from Origen Raíz del Espíritu with edition after edition, making them not just another link in the process, but one of its pillars.

The story of Job alongside Origen Raíz del Espíritu will continue, awaiting the day when someone arrives with the zeal to learn his techniques and knowledge, but, above all, with the same passion and respect for the maguey that he possesses.
